Description:
On February 28th, Project Clarity will hold its fifth annual Ag Luncheon for the local farm community at the offices of Zeeland Charter Township. Local farmers will learn about Project Clarity agricultural projects and activities to reduce sediment and phosphorous within the Macatawa Watershed including water quality monitoring. They will also learn about engineered solutions that will be piloted in 2019.
This year’s event will feature a panel of local farmers who have worked with Project Clarity to implement best management practices on their fields. Topics of discussion will include their reasoning for implementing these practices, difficulties they’ve overcome or are working through, and lessons learned to help others adopt these beneficial techniques. The panel will include recent and long-time adopters of practices such as no-till farming, blends of cover crops, and grassed waterways. The discussion will be led by Rob Vink, Agricultural Technician at the Macatawa Area Coordinating Council (MACC), who has been working closely with farmers over the past three years to implement these projects.
